Started by three friends in an attic bedroom, Quba has grown from that attic into an agency with a formidable reputation working with regional and national blue-chip clients. In 2004 they merged with another agency, part-owned by Freeserve founder Ajaz Ahmed, who remains Quba's Chairman.
Matt Jones, a co-founder, said: "When we started back in 2000, things were very different, many technologies were still in their infancy and smartphones didn't even exist. It's been an exciting 20 years. We've worked with some great clients, and the technology is now much more sophisticated with applications, and advanced web platforms accounting for most of our work."
Quba now boasts an enviable client list including London Luton Airport, Ideal Standard, and national insurance and finance companies. Recently, they have had new business wins for global manufacturer Jeld-Wen, financial services company Maxis GBN and the Institute of Structural Engineers.
What's in store for the next 20 years? Matthew Williams, co-founder and Managing Director, said "We've seen a move towards cloud-based services. Clients are now looking at ways to deliver advanced services over the internet, rather than the basic website builds of yesteryear. Artificial intelligence services from vendors such as Microsoft's Azure are going to feature more, along with content delivered to more smart devices.”
