one platform

Stowe School is one of the country’s most prestigious private schools, as well as being a tourist attraction open to the public.
This project required two different websites built on the same Kentico platform, communicating with and supporting the needs of two very different audiences.

The school website has to provide parents with everything they need to make an informed decision about registering their child. Additionally, it needed to be able to communicate school news with parents and pupils and provide both a networking platform and an ecommerce shop.
With over 300 years of history, the house and grounds offer something for everyone, including house tours, unique events, art courses and venue hire. Visitors needed to be able book tickets and plan their trip.

Working through the UX

The project kick-off and scoping focussed on collaborative working to identify objectives, requirements, personas and prospective design solutions. A diverse range of stakeholders were on the core Stowe team, each representing their different business area.
We used collaborative workshops, including sketching and card sorting, to create the scoping assets.
These assets were then used throughout the prototyping and design stages by Quba’s UX and UI design team to pull together all the threads of work into the new site’s design.

Combining great design with usable technology

The ‘Stowe experience’ is a very visual one. It was vital to project the scale and grandeur of the house and gardens from the website. We needed to make the most of the amazing visual assets at our disposal.
To do this we used the global content module within Kentico. This enabled us to architect the site around a series of predefined content cards using a custom widget to select, filter and display the global content in a flexible/reusable template.
This approach meant that Stowe could build out highly visual landing pages, drawing visitors down into more granular content pages.

Kentico: much more than just content management

For this scale of project we had no hesitations in deploying Kentico.
It enables easy and flexible use of visual content. It is hugely scalable, so the client could build out the site under the core architecture we developed. Its ability to handle other systems and integrate with web services is remarkable.
