Working closely with the show’s producers, True North, we created a site that
acted as a natural extension to BBC’s new flagship Sunday morning magazine
programme, Sunday Life.
Much more than just a place to go to download a recipe, we created a website that
used blogs, video, email and interactive polls to bring the programme and its audience
closer together. The show used the site to promote, tease or gauge opinion about
forthcoming articles in the programme, in return, the audience are encouraged to
submit their own content which could provide material or stimulus for the show.
This project was the first in BBC Vision's Window Of Creative Competition (WOCC)
where 25% of commissions can be pitched for by independents and in house BBC teams.
The competition was tough, but working with the show’s producers, True North,
we created a winning site that acted as a natural extension to the BBC’s new
flagship Sunday morning magazine programme, Sunday Life. It was just what the BBC
wanted.
Much more than just a place to go to download a recipe, we created a website that
genuinely added to the viewing experience. A portal to bring the programme and its
audience closer together and something that kept the viewers interest in the long
week between shows. The easy to navigate website allows both the editorial team
and most importantly the audience to contribute and develop the site. The show can
use it to promote, tease or gauge opinion about forthcoming articles in programme,
through the use of video and presenter blogs. In return, the audience are encouraged
to submit their own content inspired by items covered in the show.
The website has provided much more than online support, it has become an intrinsic
part of the Sunday Life programme and regularly provided content and debate for
the programme. And the best bit is, it continues to go from strength to strength.
